When to Move From Free to FlyHR Pro
The free plugin covers a lot. Here are the signs your team is ready for the Pro modules, and what each one adds.
On this page
The free FlyHR plugin isn’t a trial. It has no time limit and no cap on employees. Many teams run on it for years. So the question isn’t when will I have to pay? It is when would Pro save me time?
This post covers what you already get for free, the signs you might need more, and what each Pro module adds.
What the Free Plugin Covers
Before looking at Pro, it is worth knowing how much is already included:
- Employee records, departments and designations
- Leave policies, approvals and the leave calendar
- Holidays and workdays
- Employee self-service and email alerts
- Announcements and the Requests Hub
- Performance reviews
- Six HR reports
- CSV import and export
- The HR dashboard
If that list covers your needs, stay on free. Nothing is held back to push you to upgrade.
Signs You Might Need Pro
You Track Time Somewhere Else
If attendance lives in a paper sheet or a separate app, the Attendance module brings it into FlyHR: daily attendance, shifts and reports. Paired with the mobile app, staff can check in from their phones.
Payroll Means Copying Numbers
If you copy leave and attendance data into a payroll spreadsheet each month, Payroll may help. It adds pay calendars, pay runs and payslips in one place.
Hiring Happens in Email
When job applications arrive in an inbox, candidates get lost. Recruitment adds job openings, candidates, hiring stages and interviews, with AI to help score candidates.
Your Leave Rules Are Complicated
The free policies handle fixed allowances well. If you need accrual, carry forward or encashment, half days, a sandwich rule or more than one approver per request, the Advanced Leave module covers them. The Leave Management page explains each one.
Laptops, Contracts and Receipts Pile Up
Three modules handle the paperwork: Asset Manager to register and allot company assets, Document Manager for company and employee files in folders, and Reimbursement for expense claims with received and outstanding totals.
Your Team Lives on Phones
The FlyHR mobile app for Android and iOS is published under your own brand. See the FlyHR mobile app page.
Other Pro Modules
| Module | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Training | Programs assigned by team, with completion records |
| Workflow Automation | Actions that run on HR events |
| Custom Fields | Extra fields on employee profiles |
| SMS Notifications | SMS to employees through 7 gateways |
| HR Frontend | An employee self-service dashboard on your site |
How Pricing Works
Pro is priced by site, never per employee. A growing team doesn’t mean a growing bill. Plans start with Starter at $99/yr, and workflow automation comes with the Agency plan.
Per-employee pricing quietly punishes growth. Pricing by site means you can hire without checking your HR bill first.
Upgrading Doesn’t Mean Starting Over
Pro adds on to the same plugin, on the same WordPress site. Your employees, policies, balances and history stay exactly where they are. You can start free and move to a Pro plan whenever you need it.
A Simple Way to Decide
- List the HR tasks you still do outside FlyHR.
- Match each one to a module above.
- Estimate the time each takes you per month.
- If one or two modules would save real hours, Pro is likely worth it.
If nothing on your list matches, stay on free. That is a perfectly good outcome.
See every plan side by side on the pricing page, or browse the Pro modules on the features page.
